Automation Engineer

Valorem is seeking an Automation Engineer with a passion for all aspects software delivery automation. Qualified candidates will have a background developing and operating modern automation techniques across a broad range of tools and platforms.
The Automation Engineer will report to the Manager of Automation, and be responsible for the analysis and implementation of various aspects of software delivery automation, including but not limited to continuous integration/continuous delivery processes, configuration management, containerization, system monitoring, infrastructure-as-code, and testing automation. 
As an Automation Engineer, you will be part of a team providing project based consulting, building solutions for Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 clients. You will be involved in all aspects of the development life cycle, with a focus on enabling and empowering application developers via automation methodology. 

General Description & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and constantly improve Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to allow development teams to automatically deploy solutions into test and production environments
  • Implement configuration management frameworks and products
  • Build out complete operational visibility solutions including monitoring, alerting, visualization, and log aggregation tools
  • Collaborate with Development and Testing on the implementation of full spectrum testing automation
  • Audit existing architectures, documenting best practices and recommendations
  • Recommend best practices & improvements to current operational processes
  • Work with client development teams directly to help engineer highly available infrastructure
  • Placement Criteria & Requirements

  • Previous development or operations experience (5+ years) - Scripting (Bash, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, PowerShell); Languages / Frameworks (C#, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, MVC, Entity Framework); Database (SQL Server, T-SQL); IDE (Visual Studio 2017); Version Control and Work Management (VSTS, GIT)
  • Strong experience with some or all of the following (3+ years) - CI/CD (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins, Microsoft Release Manager, DSC); Containerization (Azure Container Services, Azure Service Fabric, Docker, Kubernetes); Testing Automation (Microsoft Test Manager, Selenium, Telerik, NUnit); System and Application Monitoring tools (Azure Insights, AWS CloudWatch, New Relic, AppDynamics)
  • Experience working in a Cloud/IaaS environment such as AWS or Azure is a must
  • Prior experience working in a consulting organization preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
