Valorem is seeking an individual with both technical ability and a strong desire to learn and help others, for the position of Support Engineer. In this role, you will need to possess the ability to effectively diagnose and resolve technical issues across a wide variety of technology platforms and software applications. The successful candidate will have strong troubleshooting and problem solving abilities, a passion for providing technical solutions to business problems, and a strong desire to learn and grow. The ability to multi-task and a willingness to work in new systems on a frequent basis will be crucial for success. 
As the Support Engineer, you will work in a team of 5-8 persons, acting as the point of escalation and assistance to Tier 1 Support Analysts. You will be responsible for understanding the business context and technical implementation of several large, high visibility applications. Primary responsibility is to assist with the technical solutions to questions, issues, changes and defects that arise in the ongoing maintenance and support of these applications. This will require a strong ability to learn, communicate and collaborate, as well as aptitude in a wide breath of technologies. You will work together with the Support Manager, Lead Support Engineer and the other Engineering teams to deliver high quality, optimized delivery of solutions. 

Placement Criteria & Requirements

  • Experience or knowledge of software development in the Microsoft technology stack: 
  • C# (.NET v3.5+, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework)  
  • Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) 
  • SQL Server (2008 R2+) 
  • Experience or knowledge of software development life-cycle tools: 
  • Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server 
  • Unit Testing, Build and Deployment automation 
  • Experienced with source code management, development using modern IDEs (Visual Studio) and unit test methodologies is preferred   
  • Experience or knowledge of web service authoring and/or consumption (WCF, ASMX, WebAPI) is desired  
  • Microsoft Certification (MTA, MCSD, MCSE or equivalent) is highly desired 
  • Proficient with common office applications, including: MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Lync) 
  • Interested in learning new technologies, creative, open-minded and a great team player  
  • Ability to instrument, profile, debug, and optimize server and client code to resolve complex issues with distributed systems  
  • Adept at task switching to handle varying workload, while meeting tight deadlines
