The UX Studio Designer is responsible for planning, leading, and contributing to human-centered design activities for our full-service digital consultancy. This is a client-facing role and requires a strong understanding of Experience Architecture and Design principles and best practices, as well as an understanding of the common tools used in modern website and application design environments.
Our designers are frequently one of Valorem’s first personnel engaging a client team for a new initiative or project phase. As such, facilitation skills, ability to engage and consult directly with a client, and then execute agreed-upon designs are critical.
While the designer is primarily hands-on, the ability to influence and lead is a key success factor.


  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Design, Experience Architecture, or Technology-related majors preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in interactive digital design and/or visual design creating products, services and experiences.
  • Experience in design thinking / human centered design methods, research, and tools.
  • Experience leading design/creative teams is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to explain user experience and design concepts to clients, executives, other functional area managers, and developers.
  • Effectively work across multiple business units in a collaborative software development environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to demonstrate user experience concepts to Product Management, Program Management and Business Leaders.
  • Ability to analyze and think quickly and adapting to ever-changing environments as is common in consulting.
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging UI/UX processes and technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive business to be agile and transparent.
  • Expert knowledge of industry standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch and Adobe XD.
  • Hands-on experience of and passion for building mockups and prototypes, from digital to tangible proofs of concept.
  • Experience of working in highly collaborative design teams, or other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience of working on digital products and services for consumer and business applications.
  • Experience of working with software development teams and methods to bring products to market.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience designing and thinking in design systems, not just single-purpose apps.
  • Experience doing user research and/or working closely and directing user research.
  • Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead and actively contribute to human centered design activities from framing insights and opportunities to ideating, iteratively sketching and prototyping to creating experiences that bring value to our customers.
  • Facilitate design thinking / human centered design workshops and ideation sessions with UX and cross functional teams.
  • Guide and oversee holistic experience vision (software, and services) and solutions from research to delivery, leading UX team throughout the process.
  • Create iterative prototyping – low to high fidelity, based on needs and project velocity.
  • Develop scenarios and customer journeys through storyboards, illustrations to communicate vision throughout iterative design process.
  •  Create and Deliver UX designs, style guides, final graphics and provide design support to the engineering team throughout the development cycle.
  •  Be a strong and passionate voice for the work as we share and present to cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Drive conversations about standards, processes, and workflows.
  • Remain flexible to changing priorities, open to new ideas and have the customer experience firmly as the focus.
  • Understand user needs through usability studies, focus groups, web analytics and competitor evaluations.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing of new products providing feedback to the development team on usability and overall functionality.
