UX Copywriter III

Detroit, MI UX Studio - User Experience Contract

We are seeking an experienced Sr UX Copywriter to join our team. This person will serve as the primary contact for all copy and voice related activities across our post-purchase customer experience. This person should be comfortable writing UI copy across various digital channels including: mobile, web, and wearables. You will be instrumental in helping shape a consistent experience across our application(s), while partnering closely with our brand team to ensure our voice and tone is clearly articulated from marketing channels into our application UI.

As a key member of the UX team, your day will be spent collaborating with stakeholders across regions, maintaining our copy matrix, updating style guides, define localization practices, and produce the content itself. 

Responsibilities

  • Experience crafting copy across various devices including: mobile, desktop, wearables, and VUI’s.
  • Experience in localization workflows and challenges of writing for a global audience.
  • Ability to research, write, edit, maintain,and proof customer-facing copy.
  • Master of consolidating the complex into easy to understand word(s) or phrase(s) depending on the context of use within an experience--from buttons to text strings.
  • Develop and maintain a do’s/don’ts terminology guide for our product(s) and our marketing site when applicable.
  • Collaborate with design, product, marketing, legal, and business counterparts to ensure content is accurate and the voice and tone resonates from a brand, product, and regional perspective.
  • General understanding between translation vs. localization of copy and content.
  • Firm point of view of when to be succinct vs. conversational within a product(s) UI.
  • Become an expert of our product(s), including the team’s point of view on error states, button nomenclatures, user functions, text strings, and feature details.
  • Self-editing skills and working knowledge of AP, Chicago, and/or MLA style.
  • High comfort level for working in a flexible, constantly evolving environment.
  • Actively participate in weekly product design and content review sessions.
  • Collaborate with in-house or external creative services and brand agency to remain in sync on brand voice.
  • Proactively troubleshoot customer experience issues that can be solved through content.
  • Support stakeholders by providing referential/template language for use at their discretion in feeding marketing/sales/promotional or operational messaging into our products, and other duties as assigned.
  • Experience in participating or conducting UX research.
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years as a UX/UI copywriter versed in research, governance, maintenance, and the creation of content across a core product experience for an international product.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Preferred

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in writing for social media, SEM, SEO, landing pages, microsites, presentation slides, UX, UI, emails, videos, blogs, case studies, and/or internal process documents.
  • Experience writing for VR and AR, technology, or other complex subject matter.
